Bragging a bit

Growth spurt much? Within about a half hour of being awake today, Quinn ate a bowl of cereal, a breakfast sandwich, and was begging for a banana and graham crackers.

Quinn has really taken off with her talking, and I love it! She shocks me with what she knows. Yesterday she carried a book to the car, looked at it, and goes "Elmo!" I didn't know she really knew Elmo. Today I put in Horton Hears a Who to watch. While I was making her breakfast, she is in there going "Elephant." Didn't know she knew that one either. And right now she is tapping on one of the chairs going "Daddy. Daddy sit." To think 6 months ago they said she qualified for help in talking. Good thing we didn't spend the time on that one.

She has Lego blocks. She stacked them together into one big tower. I asked her where the blue one was. Then she pointed to a green one and said "green" (at least it sounded like it). Green was the color of the week at CMO last week. Then she unstacked the Legos and put them back together grouped by color. What a math brain. Love her!

Quinn is Two!

Quinn turned two a couple weeks ago. She had a pretty low-key day. I took off work to be with her. We went to her two year appointment that morning. She is about 75% for height and weight, and off the chart for head, but they won't be measuring the head anymore after this visit. The doctor said she could still hear the heart murmur, so we should probably get a picture of it. Then she forgot about it!

Funny story, while we were there I paid for her last visit. I pulled out my credit card, which has a frog on it. She looked at it and said "Ribbit" in a really deep voice. Then, we went to Party Mart to pick up her cake. I told Dad I didn't care what the cake looked like, streamers and confetti would be fine. Well, Treva made a super adorable lion on it. When I looked at it, I said "It's a lion!" and Quinn said "Roar!" Too cute.

Quinn and I picked up Grammy and went to eat at a Mexican restaurant for lunch. Then we went home to nap. We went to Sirloin Stockade for dinner, just like on her first birthday. She got to have an ice cream cone. We went home, sang to her, had cake, and opened presents. She was in a great mood and seemed to have a good day.

Quinn is really picking up words. I can't even begin to tell you what all she says. She is saying phrases even. She repeats everything we say. She sings too. I think her favorite is "Just Give Me a Reason" by Pink. She kinda mumbles along, says the last word of the sentence, and does the "oh, oh" part perfectly. It's hilarious. She came to sing along at work Friday and sang and danced to everything. I sang the baby bumblebee song. I have never sang it to her, so I don't know where she got it, but she knew it. She was absolutely singing along. Adorable!

Quinn loves her purple flip flops. She says flip flops all the time. She refuses to wear anything else. It can be a bit annoying. She also loves whatever she happens to be wearing. It's a struggle to get her changed into other clothes each day because she doesn't want to take off whatever she wakes up in. She loves shirts and "pants" (shorts) better than dresses, which makes me sad.

Yesterday Quinn was in Adam and Whittney's wedding. She was a flower girl. Thankfully she wasn't the only one, because she refused to go down the aisle. She looked like she was going to, and then she saw the band. She stood there mesmerized. Eventually someone brought her to me. Right before the wedding was over, she started crying loudly (it was nap time) so I had to take her away. When everyone came back down the aisle, she happily went with them. She got a couple pictures, not the best, but they were there none the less. She got a good nap in the car and was in a much better mood for the reception, but she stayed in the background for everything.

Quinn is really enjoying going to Kelli's every day. She loves them all, but especially seems to like Wyatt. I think her talking is coming from being around them. She goes to Children's Morning Out twice a week. One of her teachers, Miss Keli, is a regular library patron. She said Quinn is a little ray of sunshine, singing and dancing all the time.

I could go on and on about what Quinn does and how much fun she is. I will ignore the toddler fits we are getting. Overall, she is a great, fun, smart little girl. Her daddy and I are so very happy that she is so sweet and wonderful.

outside and baby

Quinn loves to be outside. I'm so glad it's getting nicer out.

Her new favorite thing is baby dolls. She says baby and walks around with them. She loves pushing them in the stroller. When it is bed time, we tell her it is time to put her baby to sleep, and she goes right to bed!

At her 18 month appointment, they were worried about her talking. She is really finally taking off with it though. Some things she says very clearly, and she repeats what we say a lot more now. Just like walking, I think she just wants to do stuff on her own time. I'm okay with that for sure.

Year and a half!

It really has been a very long time! Let's see... Quinn finally walks like a champ. I was glad she still went through the toddle stage and didn't just take off running. She's also finally saying some words about a month ago. My favorite is "Happy" because she really sounds it out. I also love that she has started saying "mommy" or "mama" instead of grunting when she wants something. It's so much nicer to go in and get her when she wakes up saying "mama" rather than crying.
She had her 18 month appointment a little under a month ago. She was almost 19 months. She was 23.2 lbs and I think 32 inches tall, but don't hold me to that. She was upper average on weight and height and off the chart in head size, go figure!
Let's see if it lets me add pics still...

She used to cheese for the camera. Then she started making mean faces. Both ways are adorable to me!

She took her shoes and socks off then put her shoes back on. She loves shoes and hates socks.

Quinn is quite good at puzzles. Maybe she is getting bored with the simple ones, cause she started making the pieces stand on their sides. Funny girl!
